All Educational Institutions to Be Declared Drug-Free; Teachers Undergo Training

Umarkote,  23rd July 2025: A special training camp was held to support the mission of making all educational institutions drug-free. The initiative, focused on raising awareness and capacity-building, was conducted in Umarkote for teachers from various secondary and higher secondary schools across the district.

A total of 40 teachers and staff from different schools participated in the program. Notable participants included PR Officer and English lecturer Chandan Mallik from Gurukrupa Educational Institution, Jaya Tripathi, Sameer Mohanty from Pendrani Mahavidyalaya, Niranjan Panda from Patnaik Women’s College, and Jyoti Prakash Jagadev, among others.

Other key attendees were Kishore Chandra Sethi, Srinibas Maharana from Kadoita School, and Anil Patra from Jamurunda School.

The training was held under the guidance of District Medical Officer Dr. Santosh Kumar Panda, and with technical input from Dr. Amit Kumar Das and Tarun Kumar Sahu, specialists in addiction treatment and rehabilitation.

The program aimed to equip teachers with knowledge and tools to identify early signs of substance abuse, offer counseling support, and lead awareness drives within schools. It forms a part of a larger state-led campaign to ensure that educational spaces remain healthy, safe, and free from the influence of narcotic substances.
