Bhubaneswar, 1st Nov 2025: From the 2026–27 academic year, third-grade students across the country will be taught under the Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum, as the Central Ministry of Education has given approval to implement it nationwide. By the end of the current year, teaching tools, handbooks, and digital resources will be prepared for the new academic year.
The plan is to start teaching AI from the beginning of the 2026–27 school year. The implementation is being coordinated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), NCERT, and the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), along with other experts.
So far, several meetings have been held, including one chaired by Professor Karshik Raman of IIT Madras under CBSE’s guidance. A special expert committee has also been formed. This committee will develop the AI and Computational Thinking (CT) curriculum.
The focus will generally be on robots, computers, and related concepts.
