Bhubaneswar, 19th Aug 2025: Ghamapurnima and the birth anniversary of Lord Balabhadra. The festival also reflects traditional agricultural practices.

Rakhi Purnima is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Balabhadra. Farmers tie a Rakhi (sacred thread) to the bulls and feed them with special pithas (rice cakes). On this day, bulls are also worshipped.

In villages, it is customary to plaster the front of homes with cow dung as part of the celebrations.
