Administrative Support Extended for Dhableswar’s Medical Education

Borangpur, 28th Aug 2025: Poor but meritorious student Dhableswar has received a lifeline to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. Today, the district administration handed over ₹40,000 from the Red Cross Fund at the Collector’s office. District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain felicitated him with a bouquet and presented the cheque, assuring full support for his future studies. With this aid, Dhableswar can now take admission at Sahid Laxman Nayak Medical College, Koraput. The administration has also recommended further financial support from the state government for his continued education.

Present on the occasion were District Welfare Officer Ravindra Palaka, PA ITDA Rajeev Kumar Sahu, Tentulikhunti BDO Manoj Kumar Panigrahi, among others.

???? Dhableswar’s Inspiring Journey
Hailing from Bhatrasahi, Tentulikhunti block, Dhableswar is the son of Kanchan Pujari, who works as a daily wager and washes utensils to support the family. His father passed away when Dhableswar was just three years old. Despite hardships, he secured 80% in matric and later 88% in +2 science, thanks to the help of a kind-hearted villager who supported his intermediate education.

Due to financial distress, in 2021 he went to Andhra Pradesh as a migrant worker for seven months. With his earnings, he bought a smartphone and prepared for NEET using YouTube tutorials. On his third attempt, he scored 376 marks and secured a seat in medical college.

???? Financial Struggles for Admission
For admission alone, he required ₹37,950, hostel fee of ₹14,000, and about ₹10,000 for books, uniforms, and medical equipment. Overall, pursuing MBBS over five years would cost more than ₹7 lakh, which left him in despair. He appealed for help from kind individuals, administration, and institutions. After his story appeared in the media, Nabarangpur MLA Gauri Shankar Majhi and the District Collector extended crucial support.

???? Dhableswar’s determination and the timely assistance from the administration have rekindled his hope of becoming a doctor.
