Chandahandi: The Chandahandi Tehsildar, Sahadev Kutruka, visited the family of Rohit Gouda, a migrant laborer from Khairabhadi village under Chandahandi police station, who died in an accident in Andhra Pradesh. He provided financial assistance of ₹7,000 to Rohit’s wife, Khuramani, and inquired about the family’s situation.
The administration has not yet provided any job or further support to the deceased’s family. Additionally, no help was given in bringing Rohit’s body back from Andhra Pradesh, forcing them to arrange ₹20,000 on their own. The vehicle owner contributed ₹25,000, which helped in transporting the body. However, villagers expressed strong dissatisfaction over the lack of administrative support.
Even though several media outlets covered the migrant worker’s death, labor department officials have not visited the family, further intensifying local frustration. Villagers have demanded immediate intervention from the District Collector.
Reports indicate that on January 26, Rohit and four other young men from Khairabhadi village traveled to Hyderabad for work. While crossing the road in Anandapuram, Rohit was hit by a truck and died on the spot, leaving his body lying on the road. The police took custody of the body and informed his family. After receiving the information, the family members traveled there, completed legal formalities, and brought the body back to the village.
