Kotpad, 23rd Sept 2025: In Ambagaon Ward No. 6 under Murvahandi Panchayat of Kotpad block in Koraput district, the condition of the village road has become extremely deplorable. As a result, the villagers are facing severe problems, especially during the rainy season.
According to locals, a few years ago, under the Mega Drinking Water Project, pipelines were laid along the road to supply drinking water to every household. But after digging up the road for pipeline installation, the road was never properly repaired or leveled with soil. Due to this negligence, water gets accumulated in the trenches during rains, often causing accidents of varying severity.
This damaged road is the only route that connects residents to essential services, including the path children take to school every day.
Despite repeated complaints to local authorities and public representatives, the issues remain unresolved. Locals allege that every year, even though drains are clogged, no cleaning is done. When inquiries are made, the response remains the same — no results even after years of promises.
The villagers also claim that although funds are being allocated to the panchayat for sanitation and road maintenance, the work is never executed. They accuse officials of misappropriating government funds meant for public welfare.
The key question now is:
Will the administration take any appropriate steps after this news spreads, or will it continue to remain a silent observer, despite being fully aware of the situation?
