Jeypore, 11th Nov 2025:  The state government has once again provided financial assistance for the restoration of Jagannath Sagar. According to the letter no. 22631 from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the government has sanctioned Rs 9.45 crore.

Out of this grant:

Rs 7.915 crore will be spent on removing silt and mud from the pond.

Rs 1.5 lakh will be used for the improvement of the embankment.

Rs 1.4 lakh is allocated for constructing seating platforms.

Rs 35,000 will be used for placing information boards.

Thus, a total of Rs 7.94759 crore will be spent from this grant. Additionally, Rs 7.94 lakh 785 is allocated for contingencies, and Rs 1.436146 crore will be spent as GST.

Previously, under the Mukta Yojana scheme, more than Rs 7 crore were spent through tenders, specifically Rs 7.9183447 crore. Even after spending nearly Rs 16 crore on restoration work, the Jagannath Sagar restoration is not yet complete.

Currently, the pond still contains 4.42 lakh cubic meters of silt, and the estimated cost to remove 1 cubic meter of silt is Rs 177. However, the actual cost of removing soil is Rs 56 per cubic meter. To account for this, funds have only been released for the silt portion.

The recently sanctioned grant is expected to be utilized under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) mode.
