Aadhaar Authentication Becomes Mandatory for Tatkal Ticket Booking on Indian Railways from July 1

Bhubaneswar:  A new rule has been introduced for booking Tatkal tickets in Indian Railways. Starting July 1, Aadhaar authentication will be mandatory for booking Tatkal tickets through the IRCTC website or mobile app. From July 15, OTP verification sent to the Aadhaar-linked mobile number will also be required.

Tatkal booking timings:

For AC class: Between 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM

For Non-AC class: Between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM

IRCTC agents will not be allowed to book Tatkal tickets under this new rule.

There will be no refund if a confirmed Tatkal ticket is canceled. However, in cases where:

The train is delayed by more than 3 hours, or

The train is diverted to a different route,
a full refund may be issued.

A maximum of 4 passengers can be booked under a single PNR.

While Aadhaar is mandatory for booking, other identity proofs like Voter ID, PAN card, or passport will still be considered valid during travel.
