97th Birth Anniversary of Late Raghunath Patnaik Celebrated in Jeypore

Jeypore, 15th Nov 2025:  When one speaks about Koraput, the name of the late Raghunath Patnaik comes to mind first. Late Patnaik was a prominent Indian politician and a senior leader of the Indian National Congress. He was well-known in Koraput district, Odisha, as a “good-hearted politician.”

From a very young age, he actively participated in politics and dedicated himself continuously to public service. Over the course of nearly six decades of political life, he held numerous important positions including:

  • President of Jeypore Municipality
  • Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Jeypore
  • Leader of the Opposition in the Odisha Legislative Assembly
  • Cabinet Minister in the Odisha Government, handling Finance, Law, and Panchayati Raj Departments

In Jeypore, his visionary initiatives included the introduction of electric street lighting, the establishment of a government women’s college, and the construction of the Upper Kolab Dam, all testifying to his far-sightedness. He was a sincere public servant, whose contributions continue to inspire.

Under the guidance of District President Rupak Turuk, he remains immortal in the hearts of the people. His contribution to the overall development of undivided Koraput district is unparalleled and inspirational.

On this occasion, the Koraput Congress organized the celebration of the late Raghunath Patnaik’s 97th birth anniversary.

Organizers:
Congress workers and his family members offered floral tributes at his statue. At Geetanjali Kalyan Mandap, a discussion circle was held to commemorate his life and contributions.
