Jammu: The Amarnath Yatra is set to begin in the month of July. To ensure the safety and security of the pilgrimage, both the state and central governments have taken necessary steps.
In view of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and ongoing tensions with Pakistan, 900 companies—amounting to approximately 1,21,500 personnel from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and additional Indian Army soldiers—will be deployed along the entire yatra route.
According to sources from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the 38-day Amarnath Yatra will commence from 3rd July. To ensure complete security, CRPF, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and BSF personnel will be deployed. The Indian Army has already identified vulnerable spots along the pilgrimage path.
Base camps will be set up at Pahalgam and Baltal, and armed commandos will also be stationed near the main cave shrine to ensure heightened security throughout the yatra.
