Nabarangpur, 15th Oct 2025: On the occasion of the 8th National Nutrition Month 2025, a district-level program was held at the Skill Development Training Centre, chaired by Additional District Collector (Revenue) Bishwajit Barman.
Present at the event were:

ADPHO Dr. Malay Tripathi,
District Welfare Officer Ravindra Palaka,
District Social Welfare Officer Draupadi Kahar,
DSSO Sudhanshu Patra,
DCPO,
District Agriculture Officer,
DPC (Mamata Scheme),
Mission Shakti Officer,
CDPOs,
Anganwadi workers,
Supervisors, and other officials.
DSSO and Draupadi Kahar briefed attendees about the importance and objectives of observing National Nutrition Month. In her speech, she stressed:
Controlling the intake of sugar and oil to prevent obesity,
Promoting appropriate nutrition and education from childhood,
Ensuring balanced and nutritious food for infants and young children,
Encouraging men’s participation in nutrition initiatives, and
Promoting the use of locally available food resources.
Dr. Tripathi (ADPHO) mentioned that along with Nutrition Month, a Healthy and Empowered Women Campaign was launched on 17th September, under which:
Women are being screened for blood pressure, diabetes, cancer,
Testing is being done for anemia, pneumonia, tuberculosis, and sickle cell,
Regular health checkups for pregnant women,
Immunization for children,
Counseling for adolescent girls on mental well-being, and
Medical units have been established to support these services.
Agriculture Officer Anil Praharaj encouraged people to grow kitchen gardens and include millets (mandia) as part of their regular diet to promote nutritional diversity.
In his address, Additional District Collector Barman emphasized the importance of male participation in ensuring women’s health and overall societal development, stating that a healthy woman is key to a progressive society.
