Bhubaneswar, 11th Nov 2025: The 84th Indian Roads Congress (IRC) Mahakumbh will be held in Odisha. Since its formation in 1934, IRC has organized five annual conferences in Odisha, and now Odisha has the opportunity to host it for the sixth time. On Friday, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate and address the Mahakumbh.
This conference will serve as a platform for knowledge exchange among experts and engineers regarding road infrastructure. In a press conference held at Janata Maidan on Thursday, Law, Revenue, and Public Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan said that in the next five years, 75,000 km of roads will be constructed in Odisha.
The Minister added that within 10 years, Odisha will have the largest road network among all Indian states. The conference aims to discuss the development of road infrastructure across India and guide policy decisions. It will provide a unique platform for engineers, policymakers, researchers, industry professionals, and educators.
The key themes of the sessions include “Advancements in Road Technology and Policy.” The IRC plays a central role in shaping road development across the country.
