30,630 Candidates Sit for “Ullas” Examination in Nabarangpur District

Nabarangpur, 10th Nov 2025:  The first basic literacy and numeracy assessment examination under the Nav Bharat Literacy Programme “Ullas” was conducted in all primary and upper primary schools across Nabarangpur district.

A total of 30,630 candidates appeared for the examination, including 12,074 men, 18,253 women, and 3 transgender persons. The examination was held under the supervision of District Education Officer (DEO) Chhatrapati Sahu.

Under the Central Government–sponsored Nav Bharat Literacy Programme “Ullas”, illiterate individuals aged 15 years and above were identified through a survey conducted by school teachers. Later, all learners were provided with study materials, and volunteer teachers conducted literacy classes for them.

The learners expressed happiness at getting an opportunity to learn even at an advanced age. The Jharigam block recorded the highest number of examinees (4,978). It was also observed that the number of female candidates was higher than that of males.

Additional District Education Officer Keshab Meher served as the nodal officer, while Additional DEO Prakash Mahalik, Block Education Officers, and CRCCs monitored the examination process. Science Supervisor Chitta Ranjan Pattnayak and Assistant Ashutosh Behera also extended their support during the conduct of the examination.
