New Delhi, 9th Oct 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today completed 25 years in public office as a head of government. He shared this information via a post on his social media platform, X. On October 7, 2001, Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time. He served in that role for over 13 years, and later became the Prime Minister of India on May 26, 2014. Since then, he has been continuously serving the nation in that capacity.

In his post, Modi wrote that he has entered the 25th year of serving the people, whom he regards as a divine form of God (Janata Janardana). Throughout these 25 years, he has dedicated every day and every moment to improving the lives of Indian citizens and working towards the development of the country. He described it as a privilege and honor to receive the people’s blessings for his journey so far.

Over the past 25 years, Modi has made many impactful decisions that first transformed the landscape and condition of Gujarat, and later brought major changes in national governance and politics through his emphasis on good governance.

From October 2001 to May 2014, Modi served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Shortly after he took office, Gujarat was struck by a devastating earthquake, which had destroyed much of the region’s infrastructure. Modi launched a massive reconstruction mission to redevelop the affected areas and also worked on improving disaster management systems.

In 2003, he initiated the Jyotigram Yojana, aiming to bring electricity to every household in Gujarat — a scheme that became a model for rural electrification across India.

Today, on completing 25 years of service in public office, Modi thanked the nation for their continued trust, support, and blessings, reaffirming his commitment to work tirelessly for the country’s progress.
