Koraput ,29th Oct 2025: A preparatory meeting was held on Monday at the Nandapur Block office to plan measures to tackle cyclone “Mocha.” The meeting was attended by the District Nodal Officer, Benu Dhar Sabar (CDO), who reviewed the preparedness and arrangements. Officials from block administration, tehsil, fire service, health, education, electricity, police, and other departments discussed necessary arrangements for disaster management.
The meeting focused on ensuring safety in areas near the Jholaput warehouse and nearby villages such as Gutur, Sabun, Uparasabun, Lamadur, Chitalpada, Padalput, Umulaput, Ranginiguda, and 10 neighboring panchayats. Precautions included controlling movement in water reservoirs, preventing damage from the cyclone, and maintaining overall security.
Officials were instructed to keep a close watch on villages including Godiput, Pangiput, Upper Kandapali, Lower Kandapali, Mendhajhola, Debasandhuguda, Ranginiguda, Tankua, Sidaput, Parata, Sarbaput, Bispur, and Marda to ensure timely assistance reaches residents. The forest department was asked to restrict public access to tourist sites like Raniduduma and Nageshwari Gufa during the cyclone.
Dubaraj Murmu, Chief of the Block Health Center, reported that 21 pregnant women have been transferred to maternity homes and health centers for their safety.
In addition, via loudspeaker systems, 23 panchayats will be given early warnings about the cyclone. Panchayats are also opening temporary shelters to keep people safe. The administration has instructed that students residing in five hostels in the Mangal division be moved to safer places. Water supply officials have been asked to ensure access to drinking water, and food supplies have been stocked.
Nandapur Tahsildar Devbrat Maharana and other officials have confirmed that all departments are ready to respond. The District Nodal Officer advised officials from Agriculture, Horticulture, and Women & Child Development departments to remain alert in their respective areas.
