2016‑Batch Odisha Cadre Officer Sagarika Nath Moves to NIA on Deputation

Bhubaneswar, 5th Aug 2025:  Sagarika Nath, a 2016‑batch IPS officer of the Odisha cadre, currently serving as SP of Khordha, has been appointed as Superintendent of Police in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), marking a significant central deputation of Officer Nath to New Delhi  The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) has directed the Odisha government to relieve her immediately for commencement of duties at the NIA
Nath has earned recognition for community-centered policing approaches, leading transformative programmes like Project Sampark (an anti-drug youth initiative), the Chota Cop movement in schools, and Project Durga for girls’ safety and empowerment Her earlier assignments include roles as Traffic DCP in Bhubaneswar and SP of Balasore, where she made notable contributions in road safety, law enforcement, and cyber‑crime investigations This deputation amplifies Nath’s influence from the state to the national level, positioning her within a centr investigative agency where her commitment to youth welfare and public safety can scale further. It reflects the Centre’s increasing recognition of field officers with innovative track records in mission-based operations and citizen engagement.
