Bhubaneswar, Dec, 29: A 17-storey parking facility will be constructed at SCB Medical College, and rest houses will be built for attendants in the campuses of seven medical colleges across the state. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi reviewed the Health Department’s programmes.
As the largest medical college in the state, thousands of patients and their attendants visit this institution every day. The state government has set a goal to develop this medical college into a world-class medical institution. In this context, a meeting was held to discuss the development of necessary parking facilities.
It was informed in the meeting that a 17-storey (G+16) multi-level parking facility will be developed over an area of 6.51 acres at SCB Medical College. This parking facility will be used by patients and attendants visiting both SCB Medical College and Acharya Harihar Cancer Hospital. Parking facilities will be available up to 12 floors of the building, while the remaining floors will house an administrative block, anatomy block, B. Pharma and D. Pharma colleges, and other functional units.
To make the Panikoili Trauma Care Centre operational at the earliest, the Chief Minister suggested implementing it in PPP (Public-Private Partnership) mode. He advised that priority should be given to Central Government PSUs with experience in hospital management, and if necessary, the private sector may also be involved.
Additionally, the meeting discussed the construction of rest houses for attendants within the campuses of government medical colleges located in Cuttack, Berhampur, Burla, Sundargarh, Koraput, Baripada, and Balangir.
