16th July 2025, Bhubaneswar:: 16 gates of the Hirakud Reservoir have been opened. Floodwater is currently being discharged through these 16 gates. On the left side of the Hirakud Dam, 11 gates have been opened. On the right side, water is being released through 5 gates. The current water level of Hirakud Reservoir is 605.39 feet. Inflow of water is 2,41,252 cusecs per second. Outflow of water is 2,68,469 cusecs per second. Of this, 2,31,664 cusecs of water is being released through the spillway. 33,570 cusecs of water is being released through the power channel. The Hirakud Dam has a total of 98 gates, including 64 sluice gates and 34 crest gates. The maximum water storage capacity of Hirakud Dam is 630 feet.
