15-Foot King Cobra Rescued from Neem Tree

Malkangiri, 22nd Sept 2025:  A massive 15-foot-long King Cobra snake was rescued from a neem tree in MP VI-47 village under Lugel Panchayat in Kalimela block. The snake was spotted on the neem tree, hissing loudly, which frightened the nearby villagers. They informed the MV 79 Forest Department about the situation.

The forest department staff promptly arrived and, with great effort and assistance, managed to safely capture the snake from the tree. It is reported that the snake had entered the village area from the nearby forest and climbed the neem tree.

The snake is approximately 15 feet long and has a body covered with black scales and patterns. After a health check-up by a veterinarian, the snake is expected to be released back into the nearby forest. It was also reported that hundreds of people had gathered to see the snake.
