Bhubaneswar: A total of 14 projects currently under the Water Resources Department will be transferred to the Department of General Education. In this regard, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department. The Secretary of the Water Resources Department informed that proposals regarding the transfer of these 14 schools under the Water Resources Department to the Department of General Education were discussed.

A joint inspection will be conducted by officials from both the Water Resources and General Education Departments to assess the actual number of teachers, non-teaching staff, students, classrooms, and other infrastructure. This process will be completed within the month. Based on the inspection report, a decision will be made regarding whether these schools will be merged with nearby schools or continue functioning independently as before.

Currently, the teachers and non-teaching staff working at these schools under the Water Resources Department will continue their duties and will be deputed to the Department of General Education until retirement. The Water Resources Department will handle the salaries, pensions, and other financial matters of these employees. Once the transfer is completed, the Department of General Education will take responsibility for these schools, and regular teacher and staff positions will be created accordingly.
