Baipariguda, 27th Oct 2025: The 125th birth anniversary of the eminent freedom fighter Banchanidhu Pattnaik, renowned as the “Gandhi of Ghumusar soil,” was celebrated at the Gobar Vishwabharati Residential Higher Secondary School premises. The event was organized under the chairmanship of Kunjabihari Nayak, head of the memorial committee.
In the first phase of the program, students from Prafulla Kumari Girls’ High School, Sri Aravind Shiksha Niketan, Vishwabharati, and Basudebpur Girls’ High School paid floral tributes at the statues of Banchanidhu Pattnaik and Mahatma Gandhi on Gobar Main Road.
The second phase of the program was a memorial assembly at the Vishwabharati campus, attended by chief guest Dr. Kailash Chandra Swain, a professor in the Department of Chemistry at Vishwas Ray Science College, who spoke about the life and achievements of Banchanidhu Pattnaik. The professor also advised students on adopting a spiritual and ethical lifestyle based on various philosophical and scholarly sources.
Other notable guests included Pralhad Lenka, the local Pradhan, Sujata Pattnaik, granddaughter of Banchanidhu Pattnaik, and Vibhupad Jena, a local committee member, who occupied prominent seats on the stage.
The program featured a welcome speech by educator Ramakrishna Patra and a vote of thanks by Vibhupad Jena. The event was coordinated and managed by Prof. Santosh Kumar Biswal, Gopal Chandra Lenka, Naib Pradhan Karvik Pradhan, educator Trilochan Pradhan, Chandra Shekhar Panda, Babu Behera, Prof. Dibyalocan Biswal, Nalini Kanti Sharma, and Dr. Ranu Sagar Malik.
