102 Odisha High Schools Elevated to Higher Secondary Status

Bhubaneswar: 25th July 2025: In a major boost for school students across Odisha, 102 government high schools have been upgraded to Higher Secondary Schools (+2 level). This move will allow students to pursue Classes 11 and 12 (Plus Two) without needing to seek admission in separate colleges.

Education and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond announced the development via platform X (formerly Twitter).

  • Nabarangpur leads the list with the highest number – 15 schools upgraded.
  •  Angul district has 4 upgraded schools.
  •  All the upgraded schools will soon have CCTV surveillance installed to ensure security and discipline.

Minister Gond added that this step would benefit students who earlier had to search for separate colleges after Class 10. Now, they can continue their +2 studies at the same school itself.

This is part of the state government’s plan to expand access to higher secondary education, especially in remote and tribal-dominated districts like Nabarangpur.
