Brahmapur ,Dec, 24: The New Year is bringing many gifts for Brahmapur, including 100 new buses. In South Odisha’s hub city, Brahmapur, the process has begun to operate these buses from the headquarters of various blocks of the district to the city. Government sources have confirmed that the buses will be delivered to Brahmapur from the start of the New Year.
Although the plan existed for a long time, it could not be implemented. Despite repeated efforts, the BJD government could not bring new buses to Brahmapur. However, under the new government, this plan is finally moving forward. Surveys have already started by ‘KRUT’. A six-member team has been stationed in the city. Today and tomorrow, they will visit different locations in the city to conduct surveys. Depots are being prepared at Haldia Padra, Chatrapur, and Gopalpur to accommodate these buses.
According to the plan, buses will pick up passengers from Hinjili, Chatrapur,
urushottampur, Gopalpur, Digapahandi, and Khallikot and bring them to Brahmapur. The bus depots will provide overnight and resting facilities for bus staff. Most of the new buses will be battery-operated (EVs), so independent charging stations are being prepared. For this purpose, revenue officials and tehsildars have been instructed to help identify land. The executive officers of Hinjili, Gopalpur, and Chatrapur municipalities will complete all preparations within the next seven days.
After receiving reports from BDA, KRUT will hand over the 100 new buses to the Brahmapur Development Authority. The state government will purchase all these buses through KRUT. Under the ‘AM Bus’ scheme, 50 buses will be purchased, and under the ‘PM-Seva’ scheme, another 50 buses will be acquired.
