Nandapur: The Mission Shakti initiative of the Odisha government is empowering women by organizing them into self-help groups (SHGs) and providing financial assistance for self-reliance. As part of this initiative, a loan fair was held on Sunday at the Nandapur Block Office premises, where ₹3.33 crore was distributed to 111 women’s SHGs in the block.
Patangi MLA Ram Chandra Kadam attended the event as the chief guest and personally handed over loans to the groups. He highlighted that the primary goal of this initiative is to help women establish various business ventures, agricultural enterprises, and other self-employment opportunities to become financially independent.
Loan Distribution Details:
Out of the 1,785 women’s SHGs in Nandapur block, 111 were selected to receive loans through various banks. Block Development Officer (BDO) Durga Prasad Dora provided details of the distribution:
Balda State Bank: ₹1 crore to 20 groups
Nandapur Utkal Grameen Bank: ₹1.30 crore to 48 groups
Utkal Grameen Bank, Paduwa: ₹80 lakh to 24 groups
Utkal Grameen Bank, Jolaput: ₹40 lakh to 14 groups
ICICI Bank, Nandapur: ₹13 lakh to 4 groups
