Women Empowered Through Agricultural Training Camp Organized by Swapneswar Pani Panchayat, Promoting Sustainable Farming Practices

Belaguntha, April 20: A women’s agricultural training camp was organized by the Swapneswar Pani Panchayat at the library premises in Gangapur Hatapada.
The program was held under the अध्यक्षship of Pani Panchayat President Arjun Bishoyi. The chief guest was Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Byomkesh Mishra, while agricultural scientist Anita Patra attended as the keynote speaker.
Other dignitaries included Agriculture Officer Sangram Senapati, Assistant Agriculture Officer Shailasuta Sahu, Sanghamitra Das, OPICRA member Biswanath Pradhan, Bhubaneswar Barik, Kedarnath Pattnaik, Giridhar Achari, Basanta Gouda, Overseer Biswanath Pradhan, Krushak Sathi Prasanna Kumar Bishoyi, and progressive farmers Prakash Bishoyi, Sudarshan Bishoyi, Harikrishna Naik, and Simanchal Nayak.
During the session, agricultural scientist Anita Patra spoke about nutritious agricultural food products and emphasized that women can become self-reliant through activities like kitchen gardening, “Mo Bagicha” initiatives, and fish farming.
Speakers highlighted that women already play a major role in agriculture, and strengthening their participation can increase the number of “Lakhpati Didis” (self-reliant women earning well).
More than 60 women and over 20 male farmers participated in the program.
With the sowing season approaching within the next 15 days, training was provided on:
Selection of improved seeds
Scientific farming practices
Fertilizer application
Irrigation management
Considering the enthusiastic participation of women and groups, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Byomkesh Mishra proposed organizing another such program within the next month.
The event was managed by Pani Panchayat Secretary Santosh Kumar Bishoyi and Treasurer Nityananda Bishoyi.
