Malkangiri, Mar, 30: Dr. Mrinalini Darshwal, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Women & Child Development Department, visited Malkangiri district today and reviewed various departmental activities.
She expressed satisfaction over the effective coordination between the Women & Child Development Department and the Health Department in working towards the goal of eliminating malnutrition in the district.
During her visit, she conducted field-level reviews of different schemes. The visit has been considered a positive step towards strengthening service delivery at the grassroots level. She also attended a “Suposhit Lakshya” workshop held in the Zilla Parishad conference hall as the chief guest. On this occasion, the Commissioner stated that continuous efforts are being made through the Suposhit Mission to improve the nutritional status of children in Malkangiri district.
She visited Mathili block and reviewed the nutritional status there. During her visit to Anganwadi centres, she assessed the quality of food being provided to children as well as the available infrastructure. Noting that many Anganwadi centres are functioning in rented buildings, she directed officials to expedite the construction of new government buildings.
She advised officials to work actively towards achieving the target of a malnutrition-free Odisha by 2029. The Secretary also visited the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) located in the District Headquarters Hospital, where she reviewed the health condition of children and the facilities available.
She further visited the Sakhi Centre, which works for the safety and support of women, and expressed satisfaction over the services being provided to victims.
During the visit, Dr. Darshwal emphasized that ensuring the delivery of all government schemes to the last beneficiary remains a top priority. She also directed that Anganwadi centres be strengthened and transparency be maintained in the distribution of nutritious food.
The review meeting was attended by District Collector Prathmesh Arvind Rajshirkhe, Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Bedabar Pradhan, Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Dasharath Sarabu, Sub-Collector Duryodhan Bhoi, Chief District Medical Officer Dr. Dolamani Pradhan, among others.
The program was organized under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Gauri Nayak. District Education Officer, District Welfare Officer, Rural Water Supply Engineer, TPSODL officials, Child Development Project Officers, and supervisors from all blocks were also present.
