Bolangir, July 6 (BNP): Heavy rainfall has inundated a railway underpass near Lathore in Odisha’s Khaprakhol block, disrupting normal life and posing a serious risk to commuters.
The waterlogged underpass has become virtually impassable, affecting daily transportation and forcing motorists to exercise extreme caution. The situation turned critical on Sunday when a car carrying four occupants got trapped in the flooded crossing. Rescue teams and local residents managed to safely evacuate all four after a challenging operation.
Locals said the underpass becomes submerged during every monsoon due to poor drainage, making it a recurring hazard for commuters. They have urged the authorities to take immediate corrective measures, including improving the drainage system and ensuring the underpass remains safe for public use during the rainy season.
