Transport Minister Bibhuti Jena Announces Full Electrification of OSRTC Fleet, All Odisha State Road Transport Corporation Vehicles to Be Converted into Electric Vehicles

Bhubaneswar, May 21:  The Transport Minister, Bibhuti Jena, has announced that all vehicles of the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation will be converted to electric vehicles (EVs).

Speaking in Bhubaneswar, the minister said that there will be no shortage of EV charging stations in the state. Preliminary discussions with EV charging station companies have already been completed. Instructions have been issued for setting up 100 charging stations, out of which 30 have already been completed. Fifteen charging stations will be established in Bhubaneswar alone.

He further stated that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi are keen on promoting the use of electric vehicles. The use of EVs will not only help protect the environment but will also lead to savings.

The minister added that EVs will be promoted to maintain ecological and environmental balance and to support nature conservation.
