Tourism Boost Expected as Haradaguda Tourist Spot Gets Ready for a New Makeover

Jeypore, May 12: While several tourist destinations in Koraput district continue to remain neglected due to lack of infrastructure, the Tourism Department has now initiated steps for the development of the scenic Haradaguda tourist spot located in Jeypore Block. Development works worth nearly rs 1.5 crore are expected to begin next year.
Situated amidst hills and mountains under Bariniput Panchayat of Jeypore Block, Haradaguda is known for its natural beauty and waterfalls. Visitors can reach the spot by travelling through the Mahulbhata ghat road and Sangabadi village before arriving at Tingsil village, from where a direct route leads to Haradaguda. The tourist destination is located around 12 kilometres from Bariniput Panchayat.
The site features two beautiful waterfalls cascading from the hills along with two additional streams below, making it an attractive natural destination. Earlier, tourists frequently visited the area, and the block administration had improved the ghat road to facilitate transportation. However, infrastructure development at the tourist site itself had remained incomplete for many years.
During 2025–26, the block administration prepared and submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) through the District Collector for the development of the tourist destination. Following this, the district administration has taken steps to improve the site comprehensively.
According to district tourism officials, special emphasis will be given to ensuring convenience and comfort for tourists. Planned infrastructure includes parking facilities, roads, and a proper drainage system. An information office will also be established to provide visitors with tourism-related guidance. In addition, a café will be developed where tourists can relax and enjoy refreshments.
The project will also include electrification, drinking water facilities, and public toilets. The responsibility for executing the infrastructure development work has been entrusted to the Jeypore ITDA. District Tourism Officer Sourabh Ranjan Bag stated that the tender process for the project is expected to begin very soon.
