Timber from Kandhamal Dispatched for the World-Famous Rath Yatra, Upholding Sacred Traditions

Kandhamal, April. 30:  Timber has been sent from Kandhamal district to Puri for the world-famous Rath Yatra.
For the first time, wood has been sourced from the Kotgarh forest range of Kandhamal district for the construction of the chariots. The timber will be used in making the axles of the three chariots of Lord Jagannath.
A total of 23 logs of “Dhaura” wood, each measuring about 40 feet in length, have been transported from Kotgarh forest.
After reaching Baliguda from Kotgarh, the timber was received with rituals and traditional worship at the Jagannath Temple premises by the district administration and the temple trust board, marking its ceremonial dispatch for the sacred chariot construction of the deities’ grand procession.
