Bhubaneswar, Aug. 1 (UDN): Odisha Police has stepped up security arrangements across the state ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s three-day visit from August 3 to August 5, with Bhubaneswar Railway Station and key travel routes placed under heightened surveillance.
Preparations were reviewed during a high-level meeting chaired by Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania, who directed officials to ensure comprehensive security measures at all venues and along the President’s movement routes.
As part of her itinerary, President Murmu is scheduled to attend official programmes in Cuttack and Berhampur. On August 4, she will travel by train from Bhubaneswar Railway Station to Berhampur, prompting enhanced security arrangements at the station and along the railway corridor.
Police have ordered intensified patrolling across the rail route, deployment of personnel at vulnerable locations and level crossings, and detailed security checks to ensure the safe passage of the presidential train. Railway staff assigned to platform duties during the visit are also being identified in advance and issued special duty passes.
Besides attending official events, the President is scheduled to visit the Maa Kandhuni Devi shrine at Taptapani Hot Spring in Sanakhemundi block of Ganjam district, where she will offer prayers before participating in other engagements.
Speaking on the preparations, DGP YB Khurania said elaborate security arrangements have been made for the President’s visit, with all necessary protocols being implemented to ensure a smooth and secure programme across the state.
Senior police officers have been instructed to maintain close coordination with the Indian Railways and the civil administration to ensure seamless execution of security plans throughout the visit. Multi-layered security, technical surveillance and route sanitisation will remain in place until the President concludes her Odisha tour on August 5.
