Nabarangpur, April :14 A selection camp for the Under-16 Inter-District Cricket Tournament was recently concluded at the local stadium, organized jointly by the State Cricket Association and the District Cricket Association.
More than 70 players from different parts of the district participated in the camp. They were divided into four teams, and based on their performance, a 16-member squad was selected.
The team, led by Ankush Rao, was announced by Cricket Association Secretary Prahlad Tripathy. Other selected players include Swadhin Pattnaik, Ru Harijan, Nirdesh Baishak, Sahil Harijan, Raghubir Pattnaik, Rohit Reddy, Sahil Kujur, Vivek Banua, Shashwat Tripathy, Sai Durga Behera, M.D.A. Lathia, Naman Saura, Ashutosh Gantayat, U. Deep, and Sahil Hala.
Senior member Shashank Shekhar Behera has been appointed as the team manager, while Lal Mohammad Khan will serve as the coach, as informed by media coordinator Manoj Pattnaik. Co-secretary M. Bala Krishna Rao and other members of the association extended their best wishes to the team.
It is noteworthy that the tournament has started from the 2nd of April in Cuttack. Among the six groups formed by the Odisha Cricket Association, the Nabarangpur district team has been placed in Group D. The team will play league matches in a one-day format from April 10 to April 15 against teams from Cuttack, Jajpur, Koraput, Boudh, and Malkangiri, as informed by senior member Ashok Nayak.
The selection process was supported by senior members Durjya Harijan, G. Chandrasekhar, Subrat Gond, and women cricketer Ajita Das, along with other male and female members of the Cricket Association.
