Teacher’s Passion Drives Environmental Protection Movement

Phulbani, March, 9:— Dr. Daitari Digal, a government school teacher from Raikia block, is widely known as a nature lover and environmental enthusiast.
For his dedicated efforts in making the environment greener and serving society, he has earned appreciation from the local people of Kandhamal district. Along with maintaining a green environment in his school, he constantly works to keep the entire surrounding area clean, green, and beautiful.
Throughout the year, he promotes environmental awareness through various activities, such as:
Giving a sapling along with the traditional Kanyadaan during weddings
Distributing saplings during religious events, festivals, and gatherings
Plant distribution on occasions like Mother Language Day and Van Mahotsav
Providing saplings to tea shop owners
Encouraging people to avoid plastic and polythene bags and use cloth bags instead
Keeping local markets and pond surroundings clean
Caring for animals and birds
Dr. Digal distributes around 2,000 saplings every year. During school holidays, he gathers youth and elders from villages and organizes tree plantation drives on barren hills. He also distributes free saplings across Raikia block.
In addition, he conducts awareness campaigns about the importance of trees, forest conservation, and environmental protection, and educates people about preventing forest fires and protecting forests.
