Sacred Beginnings: 27th Maa Narayani Thakurani Yatra Marks Khunti Installation Ritual

Phulbani, April 16:  Preparations for the famous Maa Narayani Thakurani Yatra in Phulbani have officially begun with the installation of the sacred Shubha Khunti (auspicious wooden post) on the holy occasion of Pana Sankranti.
The rituals started today at the temporary yatra pavilion with traditional पूजा (worship ceremonies). The Yatra Committee President Kabula Senapati led the rituals with devotion and sincerity.
Following the पूजा, a grand procession will be taken out to bring the sacred Khunti from the local Narayani Temple. It will then be ceremonially स्थापित (installed) at the yatra ground.

Vice President Sujit Behera
Cultural Secretary Ashok Mohanty
Joint Secretaries Jaya Sen Parida and Ajit Maharana
Treasurer Kamal Kumar Behera
Along with them, advisors, executive committee members, market committee representatives, local residents, police personnel, and administrative officials were also present.
Yatra Schedule
The grand yatra will commence on Akshaya Tritiya (April 20) and continue for a full month until May 20.
This annual festival is one of the most significant cultural and religious events in the region, attracting thousands of devotees and showcasing rich local traditions.
