Released in November 2025, Sounds of Kumbha is a transformative musical experience inspired by the Mahakumbha festival, one of the world’s oldest spiritual gatherings symbolising divinity, unity, and human connection. Conceptualized by Siddhant Bhatia, the album blends the sacred energies of ancient India with contemporary global soundscapes, bringing together a diverse roster of Indian and international artists.

For Raja Kumari, the nomination is deeply personal. Known for her signature fusion of Indian classical influences with hip-hop and pop, the artist has been increasingly drawn toward devotional and introspective music—most recently showcased in her 2024 spiritual album Kashi to Kailash. Contributing to Sounds of Kumbha marked a seamless continuation of this evolution, allowing her to explore movement, rhythm, and divinity through sound.

She recalls recording her vocals just before departing for the actual Kumbh Mela, a moment charged with synchronicity and purpose. Her meeting with Siddhant Bhatia during this spiritually aligned period sparked a collaboration rooted in devotion

“I remember telling Siddhant, ‘Kumbh is never over for me,’” she says. “This album was created with no expectation or attachment—just devotion. Seeing it reach the Grammys is a reminder that what’s made in faith always finds its path.”

This nomination marks Raja Kumari’s second Grammy nod—her first came as a songwriter for Iggy Azalea—and arrives at a significant point in her artistic journey. From starting out as a classical dancer to becoming a global voice in contemporary music, this project feels like a full-circle moment: a return to her roots, elevated through experience.

As she prepares to bring Kashi to Kailash to cultural venues such as NMACC, the Grammy recognition reaffirms her commitment to exploring the intersection of sound, spirituality, and storytelling—a space where Raja Kumari continues to bridge India’s soul with the global stage.
