Bhubaneswar, July 20 (UDN): The Odisha Finance Department has issued a stern directive to officers who have failed to comply with government transfer orders, warning that non-compliant officials will face a salary freeze and disciplinary action.
In an order issued on July 16, 2026, the department directed all transferred officers to report to their new places of posting by July 20, 2026. Officials who fail to join their transferred posts within the stipulated deadline will not be permitted to draw their salaries from July 21 onwards until they assume charge at their new assignments.
The directive follows the mass transfer of 90 Odisha Finance Service (OFS) officers ordered on April 16, 2026. Despite more than three months having elapsed, the Finance Department noted that several officers are yet to vacate their previous postings and join their new offices.
Expressing concern over the delay, the department stated that repeated instructions to implement the transfer orders have not been adhered to by some officials. It warned that continued non-compliance would invite disciplinary proceedings in addition to the suspension of salary.
According to the official notification, officers who have already been relieved from their previous posts but fail to join their new place of posting by the deadline will not be entitled to receive salary from July 21 until they formally report for duty.
The Finance Department’s latest order is being viewed as a significant step to enforce administrative discipline, ensure accountability, and facilitate the timely implementation of transfer policies across the state.
The notification has been circulated to the Office of the Accountant General, departmental authorities, and district-level offices for immediate compliance and necessary action.
