MGM University Opens Marathwada’s First Center of Excellence in 3D Concrete Printing Innovation

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, July 16, 2025: MGM University made a daring initiative to redefine construction education by launching Marathwada’s first Center for 3D Concrete Printing Innovation in its campus at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The launch happened on the occasion of the 81st birthday of Shri Ankushrao Kadam, Hon’ble Chancellor of MGM University and Secretary of Mahatma Gandhi Mission.

This cutting-edge building, built under the Innovation, Incubation and Research Centre (IIRC), heralds the official foray of MGM University into the dedicated endeavor of 3D Concrete Printing—a revolutionary new development in construction technology. As opposed to overall 3D printing, 3D concrete printing utilizes robotic arms and automated systems to construct large-scale concrete structures layer by layer, holding enormous potential in sustainable, quick, and economic construction.

The launch ceremony was attended by Dr. P.M. Jadhav, Vice Chairman, MGM, Shri Ankushrao Kadam, Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Vilas Sapkal, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ashish Gadekar, Registrar, and senior faculty, researchers, and dignitaries.

Addressing the event, Dr. Vilas Sapkal, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, MGM University, stated, “With this launch, we intend to inculcate a new breed of engineers and architects who are poised to drive innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurial values. The center will be a confluence of research, industry-academia interaction, and skill building in the rapidly changing domain of digital construction.”

Scientist Dr. Ramandeep Singh, who was present at the event, further said, “3D concrete printing is not only a trend but also a revolutionizing force in sustainable infrastructure construction. MGM University’s vision in setting up this center is a benchmark for academic institutions to foster actual innovation and create industry-ready talent.

The center is intended to expose students to cutting-edge technologies such as digital fabrication, robotic construction systems, and automated concrete layering. It will also be a launchpad for collaborative research activities, industry collaboration, and startup incubation in the field of construction-tech.

Through this niche area of focus, MGM University is creating new-generation career opportunities for students of civil and architecture engineering to emerge as innovators, technical experts, and entrepreneurs in a field that is rapidly evolving.

The center is the first dedicated effort towards 3D concrete printing in the Marathwada region, further reinforcing MGM University’s leadership in embedding futuristic technology into education.
