Malkangiri Administration Moves to Secure Educational Institutions with Land Pattas for 1,050 Government Schools

Malkangiri, May 09:: In a landmark initiative for the development of education, the Malkangiri district administration has launched a major campaign to provide land pattas to government schools across the district.
As per the directive of District Collector Prathmesh Arvind Rajeshirke, a large-scale School Land Patta Camp was successfully organised today at the FLC Hall premises.
The special camp was conducted under the chairmanship of Sub-Collector Duryodhan Bhoi and was attended by Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Bedabar Pradhan, District Welfare Officer Srinivas Achari, District Education Officer Chittaranjan Panigrahi, and Assistant Forest Officer Mansun Khemundu.
During the camp, the process of providing land pattas to 1,050 government schools in the district was accelerated on a war footing. Out of the total 1,242 government schools in Malkangiri district, nearly 85 percent did not possess their own land pattas. Due to this issue, important developmental works such as construction of additional classrooms, toilets, and boundary walls had remained incomplete for years.
To resolve the problem, the district administration formed a special coordination forum involving officials from the Revenue Department, Tahasil offices, Block Education Offices, and school headmasters to jointly verify records and expedite the process.
Applications for land pattas had already been submitted for 647 schools under the Tahasil administration and 304 schools under the Forest Department. Officials were instructed to complete land identification, measurement, and patta distribution for the remaining schools within the stipulated timeframe.
Special emphasis was also given to providing land pattas at the earliest for Godabarish Adarsha Vidyalayas. Similarly, the application process is underway for 25 Ashram schools functioning under the District Welfare Department.
For schools situated on forest land, applications have been submitted to the concerned forest authorities for 304 schools under the School and Mass Education Department and 13 Ashram schools under the ST & SC Development Department.
A detailed review was conducted regarding delays in patta approval at various Tahasil and Forest Department offices. Officials were directed to finalise procedures related to forms, documentation, and Gram Sabha approvals through mutual coordination and discussion.
Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Bedabar Pradhan issued strict instructions to concerned officials to complete the process without delay.
The District Collector clearly stated that no school should remain deprived of development due to the absence of land pattas. The administration and education department will work together in mission mode to achieve this objective.
The district administration’s initiative is being regarded as a milestone effort to strengthen the educational infrastructure in a remote district like Malkangiri. With proper land ownership, schools will be able to utilise government grants effectively, ensuring safer and more modern educational facilities for thousands of students.
The Collector’s visionary decision has received widespread appreciation from intellectuals, parents, and local residents. The administration’s mission-mode approach is also being seen as an exemplary model for removing administrative barriers in the education sector.
All Tahasildars and Block Education Officers were present and actively participated in the programme.
