Major Development Push for Sambalpur as Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra Reviews Key Projects and Welfare Initiatives

Sambalpur: May 14:   With the objective of ensuring holistic developm  ent of Sambalpur city and extending the benefits of government welfare schemes to citizens, Housing & Urban Development and Public Enterprises Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra visited Sambalpur and reviewed various developmental activities. During the visit, important meetings of the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) and the Sambalpur Development Authority (SDA) were held to outline the city’s future development roadmap.
Master Plan for 2047 and Major Announcements
At the 52nd Authority Meeting of the SDA chaired by the Minister, approval was granted for the “New Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) – 2047” for Sambalpur. To modernize the city, decisions were also taken to construct a multi-storey commercial complex at Modipada and renovate the old SDA office building.
Key Highlights of the Review Meeting
Flagship Schemes: Emphasis was laid on the successful implementation of schemes such as PMAY (Urban), the Madhu Babu Pension Scheme, and the Garima Scheme.
Infrastructure: Review of Smart LED streetlight installation across all lanes and by-lanes of the city, along with monitoring of drinking water supply projects being executed by WATCO.
Drainage Management: Special instructions were issued to resolve storm water drainage problems and improve rainwater discharge systems.
Transport and Civic Services: Review of CRUT bus services and the efficient operation of Aahar centres.
Distribution of Assistance to Beneficiaries
The Minister personally distributed benefits to beneficiaries under various government schemes. These included Ayushman Bharat cards, PMAY work orders, PM SVANidhi loans, Madhu Babu pensions, ration cards, and labour cards. Additionally, 11 differently-abled persons were provided with motorized tricycles.
The review meeting was attended by Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra, the Rengali MLA, District Collector Siddheshwar Baliram Bonder, SMC Commissioner Rehan Khatri, and several senior officials. The Minister also directed officials to fill vacant departmental posts immediately in order to accelerate administrative work and project implementation.
