In nine districts, the temperature has crossed 40°C.
The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave warning.
According to the forecast, there will be no relief from the extreme heat and humidity until the 19th of this month.
Authorities have issued safety advisories to the public due to the ongoing heatwave conditions.
