Historic Ghuturukhal Bridge Project Approved with rs 125.61 Crore Budget, Bringing New Hope to Waterlogged Indravati Region of Thuamul Rampur

Bhawanipatna, May 22:  After a long wait filled with hope and struggle, the approval of an estimated budget of ₹125.61 crore by the Mohan Government for the construction of the historic Ghuturukhal Bridge in the Indravati waterlogged region of Thuamul Rampur block in Kalahandi district has created a historic and proud moment for the entire Kalahandi district.

This bridge is not merely a construction project, but a bridge of dreams, struggles, and livelihoods for thousands of people. For more than 5,000 families living in water-surrounded areas such as Mahulpatna, Talnagi, Podapadar, Padepadar, Atri, and Gopinathpur, it is nothing less than a priceless gift.

For years, boats were the only means of survival and transportation in these areas. The construction of this bridge will now write a new chapter of development, safety, and connectivity.

The long-standing demand for the Ghuturukhal Bridge was raised at the national level by former Kalahandi Lok Sabha MP Basanta Kumar Panda. Due to his foresight, dedicated efforts, and unwavering determination, this dream has finally begun to turn into reality.

He repeatedly raised the issue in the Lok Sabha in New Delhi and continuously worked for obtaining government approval. His relentless efforts are certainly worthy of appreciation, and today the local residents are celebrating with immense joy.

Once completed, this bridge will greatly benefit and improve connectivity among the districts of Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Jeypore, and Koraput.
