Torrential rainfall over the past few days has caused water to flow over several village roads, making them impassable and cutting off connectivity to a number of low-lying habitations. Commuters, school students and local residents have been facing considerable hardship as vehicular movement has been affected in several pockets of the block.

The rising water level has also inundated agricultural fields, raising concerns among farmers over possible crop damage if the rain continues. Residents said prolonged waterlogging has hampered access to markets, healthcare facilities and other essential services.

Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have advised people to avoid travelling through submerged roads and waterlogged areas. Officials said necessary precautionary measures are being taken to ensure public safety, while field staff have been deployed to assess the extent of damage and restore connectivity wherever possible.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast further rainfall over parts of coastal Odisha under the influence of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, prompting the district administration to remain on alert for any further deterioration in the flood situation.

The administration has urged residents, particularly those living in low-lying areas, to remain vigilant, follow official advisories and report any emergency to the local authorities.
