Nabarangpur, March 24: Two Italian tourists visited Nabarangpur district to see its oldest and renowned lac handicraft artistry.
They observed how the famous lac craft of Nabarangpur is made and discussed possibilities of exporting the products. They also deliberated on how this endangered traditional art could gain wider recognition and how it could be promoted extensively in international markets.
The tourists held discussions with State Handicraft Award-winning lac artisan Kumari Prabhati Patra. They visited her residence along with tourism representative Prabhat Kumar.
They also met artisans Kalicharan Patra, Binapani Patra, Asharani Patra, and Mangala Prasad Patra. After detailed discussions and purchasing a large quantity of lac products, the tourists expressed great happiness before returning.
