Elderly Woman Loses Life After Being Hit by Passenger Train, Incident Sparks Concern Over Railway Safety

Jeypore Mar, 26: An elderly woman died after being hit by a passenger train near New Colony in Koraput. According to reports, on Sunday, 60-year-old Kuldeep Bati had come to New Colony from her relative’s house in Ringaguda to collect her pension. On Monday morning, while returning to her home, she was struck by a passenger train traveling on the Koraput–Visakhapatnam route. She died at the spot.
Railway officials and the Koraput Town police reached the site, recovered the body, and sent it to the hospital with medical officer Lakshman Nayak for postmortem examination. An investigation is underway.
After the family of the elderly woman arrived at the scene, a scene of grief unfolded. Kuldeep Bati is survived by a son and a daughter. Local residents said that her husband had also lost his life in a train accident less than 10 years ago.
