Jharsuguda, July 3 (UDN): A 42-year-old man was allegedly murdered and his body dumped on a roadside at Muchbahal under the Belpahar police limits in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district, police said on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Srujan Kumar, a native of Jharkhand who had been residing in Muchbahal for nearly two decades. He was employed as a driver in the local mining sector.
According to preliminary information, unidentified miscreants allegedly killed Srujan before abandoning his body on a road in the locality and fleeing the scene. The motive behind the crime is yet to be established.
Following information from local residents, police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. Brajrajnagar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Belpahar police personnel and a scientific team conducted an on-site examination and collected forensic evidence.
The body was sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death, while investigators have begun questioning local residents and examining possible leads to identify those involved in the murder.
Police have registered a case and said all possible angles, including personal enmity and professional rivalry, are being investigated. Efforts are underway to trace the accused and ascertain the circumstances that led to the killing.
