Nabarangpur, March, 11: The Cyber and Economic Crime Police Station in Nabarangpur was inaugurated and opened to the public in the presence of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated virtually.

(Koraput) Dr. Kanwar Vishal Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police & District Police Chief Sandip Sampad, Additional District Collector Vishwajit Barman, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sukanta Satapathy, Additional Superintendent of Police Aditya Sen, Nabarangpur Municipality Vice-Chairman Soumya Mahapatra, Police Inspector Ajay Kumar Ekka, Nabarangpur Town Police Officer Sambit Behera, District Sports Association Secretary Manoj Kumar Pattnayak, Councilor Nagendra Pattnayak, and many others.
Students from various educational institutions were also present, and the district police administration coordinated with the local authorities to manage the event.
It is noteworthy that this station will have one Additional Superintendent of Police, four Station Officers, two Deputy Officers, and eight police personnel.
Previously, the Nabarangpur police had launched Operation ‘Kavach’ to apprehend cybercriminals in the district. Investigations revealed illegal transactions exceeding several crores in 255 bank accounts. Some of these accounts were found to be benami (anonymous), and 9 separate cases have been registered across different police stations in the district. Notices have been issued to 24 account holders. In total, 255 bank accounts were examined, 9 cases registered, and notices issued to 24 people.
Regarding cybercrime, only one case was registered in 2025, whereas currently 8 new cases are being investigated and follow-up actions are ongoing.
