Camp Collapse Leads to Tragic Death of Night Watchman, Authorities Launch Investigation into Incident

Kalahandi, April 11: A night watchman, Keshab Bishi, died after a temporary camp of DD Builder collapsed at Patiguda under Jayapatna police station in Kalahandi district.
The incident occurred late last night, and Keshab died on the spot.
After receiving information, Jayapatna police reached the spot, seized the body, and registered a case. An investigation into the incident has been initiated. Today, a post-mortem was conducted at the Jayapatna Community Health Centre, and the body was handed over to the family.
The family of the deceased demanded compensation. In response, an amount of ₹2 lakh each has been deposited as fixed deposits in the names of his three children. Additionally, ₹50,000 in cash was provided to the family for funeral and related rituals.
It has been alleged that although hundreds of workers are employed under the industry and contractors, their labour registration has not been done. As a result, in case of accidents, the families of the deceased or injured are deprived of government assistance.
Following the incident, there has been a growing demand among locals to strictly enforce labour registration in the area.
