Bhubaneswar, Nov 4 (UDN): A gruesome discovery near Kelucharan Park in Bhubaneswar triggered a police investigation on Wednesday after half-charred body parts of an unidentified man were recovered from the area under Mancheswar police station limits.

The remains were reportedly found in a decomposed condition, raising suspicions that the man may have been murdered and his body subsequently dumped at the spot in an attempt to conceal the crime.

Police personnel from Mancheswar Police Station, accompanied by a scientific team, rushed to the location and began collecting evidence. A team from Chandrasekharpur Police Station also visited the area as the investigation gathered pace.

Police Suspect Body Was Dumped After Murder

During the preliminary inquiry, investigators suspected that the body might have been brought to the location after the man was killed. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the death remain unknown.

The scientific team collected samples, including pieces of skin, flesh and bones, for forensic examination. Investigators are also trying to determine whether the remaining body parts were removed from the scene or dumped at another location.

Preliminary police assessment suggests that the remains may have been lying there for several days, possibly around a week. The suspected duration is yet to be established through forensic examination.

Search On To Establish Victim’s Identity

With the deceased yet to be identified, police are examining missing-person complaints lodged at different police stations. Investigators are also questioning local residents and searching the surrounding forest area for additional body parts or other clues.

The victim’s identity, age and other personal details remain unknown. Police are awaiting the post-mortem findings and forensic reports to establish the cause and approximate time of death.

The recovery has raised serious questions about the circumstances in which the man died and how his remains came to be found near the park.

Further investigation is underway.
