Nabarangpur, Nov 4 (UDN): A new Nabarangpur Postal Division under the Odisha Postal Circle has become operational from November 1, 2026, in accordance with the latest administrative restructuring introduced by the Department of Posts.
The newly created postal division is expected to strengthen postal administration, improve service delivery and ensure more efficient management of postal operations across Nabarangpur and adjoining areas, particularly in remote and tribal-dominated regions of southern Odisha.
Headquarters at Jeypore Head Post Office
The headquarters of the newly established Nabarangpur Postal Division, including its Divisional Office, will function from the premises of the Jeypore Head Post Office. This arrangement will serve as the administrative centre for coordinating and monitoring postal services under the new division.
Division Created Through Administrative Restructuring
The Nabarangpur Postal Division has been created by reorganising the existing Koraput and Kalahandi Postal Divisions. The restructuring aims to redistribute administrative responsibilities, balance the workload and improve the overall efficiency of postal operations.
Postal Network Under the New Division
The newly established division will comprise:
* 4 Sub-Divisions
* 1 Head Post Office
* 31 Sub-Post Offices
* 341 Branch Post Offices
With this extensive network of postal establishments, the new division will oversee postal services across a wide geographical area and strengthen connectivity between urban, rural and remote communities.
Focus on Better Postal Services in Tribal and Remote Areas
The creation of the Nabarangpur Postal Division is an important administrative step towards making postal services more accessible and systematic, especially for people living in remote, rural and tribal-dominated areas.
The Ministry of Communications, through the Department of Posts, has taken this initiative with the objectives of improving administrative efficiency, ensuring a balanced distribution of responsibilities and strengthening the delivery of postal services at the grassroots level.
The new arrangement is expected to facilitate better supervision of post offices, smoother administrative coordination and improved accessibility to essential postal services for residents of Nabarangpur and surrounding areas.
