Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (UDN): An elderly man was allegedly robbed of Rs 50,000 near Ruchika Market in Bhubaneswar shortly after withdrawing the cash from a bank, police said.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred while the senior citizen was returning home after collecting the money. Two unidentified persons allegedly approached him on a motorcycle and snatched the cash before fleeing the area.
CCTV Footage Under Scanner
CCTV footage from the area has reportedly surfaced and is now being examined by investigators. The visuals allegedly capture two men arriving on a motorcycle and fleeing after carrying out the robbery.
The footage is expected to help police identify the suspects and reconstruct the sequence of events.
Police Launch Investigation
Following the complaint, police have initiated an investigation and are examining CCTV cameras installed in and around the locality.
Investigators are also looking into the victim’s movements after he withdrew the money from the bank to determine whether the accused may have followed him before striking.
Police are currently working to identify and trace the two suspected robbers using the available CCTV footage and other leads. Further details are awaited.
